Tomb Raider II & Glidos
Will the Glidos server operate TR2?...assuming I could get the stupid game to install on my Windows XP Pro?
Where would be the best site to ask about how to install TR2 on my computer?
:(

Hi Lynn There is no Glidos profile for Tomb Raider 2 so no, Glidos won't run it (if you run Glidos you can see which games are supported in the drop-down). What problems are you having installing? I just put TR2 onto my XP Pro machine without any hassles Regards Richard ----- Original Message ---- From: Lynn Perry To: glidos Sent: Saturday, 8 September, 2007 1:47:03 PM Subject: [glidos] Tomb Raider II & Glidos Will the Glidos server operate TR2?...assuming I could get the stupid game to install on my Windows XP Pro? I put the TR2 cd in the cd drive. After a little bit, a splash screen came up. It had 3 buttons highlighted: "Install", "Readme", and "Cancel".
I clicked "Install", and waited...and waited...and waited. After several minutes, nothing had happened. What now?

Disabled anti-virus. Made no difference. When I click "Install" I get a message box "DirectX initialiization failed".

have you tried re-installing Directx? Click Start, Run and type dxdiag and then enter - this will show you what version you have (it may even be on the TR2 CD) you can get whatever version of DirectX that you need from here:- http://www.oldversion.com/program.php?n=directx ----- Original Message ---- From: Lynn Perry To: glidos Sent: Saturday, 8 September, 2007 5:22:30 PM Subject: Re: [glidos] Tomb Raider II & Glidos globox globox said: Disable your antivirus program, then try installing again ----- Original Message ---- From: Lynn Perry To: glidos Sent: Saturday, 8 September, 2007 2:37:44 PM Subject: Re: [glidos] Tomb Raider II & Glidos I put the TR2 cd in the cd drive. The game readme says it requires DirectX 5.0, which is included on the game disk. I already have 9.0c . I wouldn't think I needed 5.0?
In the past, I've installed games that required less directX than I already have. Usually they just fool around at that point, then in so many words they say "Okay, you already have more directX than required, so we'll just skip that part"...then proceed with the rest of the installation.

Lynn More stuff to do: locate the Tomb Raider executable on your C: drive, right-click, properties, click the Compatibility tab and tick the 'Run this program in compatibility mode for" and choose Windows 98 from the drop-down. Also, try removing and reinstalling drivers for your graphics card. Since it has become apparent that the TR2 problems have nothing to do with Glidos, I've created a new space at this site called Tomb Raider II to discuss problems with TR2 (and possibly TR3). I don't know which Tomb Raider was first to be really compatible with Windows XP.
Solo.

Oops. Correction: The new space is called "Tomb Raider II & III".
Thank you.

Re: Tomb Raider II & GlidosHello, sorry but I'm confused. What is this "new space"? Or better, where it is? Is another mailing list? Please clarify, I checked the page http://glidos.jiglu.com/ but if the new space is there I can't find it... Roberto: Go to your Home Space. Click the blue "Spaces" tab up to the right of yours. Click the letter "T". :)
