Talk about deja vu all over again......
I've just rebuilt my computer, and reinstalled glidos, vdm sound etc.
tombraider runs fine using the tr1 advanced installer when not using
glidos, but when I use Glidos I get "read error" after the initial
start.
This happened to me before, but I have no recollection of what I did to
fix it.
System: intel 6850 dual core. 2G 800MHz memory, XP with all latest
updates, HD2600 XT video card, dual CD roms. 22" HDMI monitor.
Game installed in rom D. rom E with or without CD- same result.
Make sure you have the latest video drivers, directly from ATI's web site, rather than from Windows update (otherwise you have no accelerated OpenGL support.
Or change Glidos's config to use Direct3D.

I've been using Glidos 1.38 with texture and audio packs with no
problems.
Yesterday I installed audio pack 1.6, Glidos 1.39 and the upgraded
tomb.exe.
I started the game and the menu no longer had musical accompanyment plus
all the background sounds are missing in the game.
I reinstalled Glidos 1.38 and everything worked again.
my pc is a pentium 4 2.8Ghz. Asus p4c800deluxe motherboard, 1Gbyte ram,
Gforce 7800gs agp with 256 mb ram, Creative Audigy 2. Windows XP sp2.
Glidos is installed in c:\programme\glidos
Tomb raider is in d:\adventures\tomb raider
I use VDos32 0.7 and vdmsound 2.1
Ideas anyone?
I have the same issue.
If I revert to the normal CD audio the music etc. reappears, so it seems to be purely an mp3 playback problem.

Sorry- I'm new to the group and I'm not accustomed to the order of responses. Anyway- Im not on vista- but on Xp, I'm not using vdos32 and I have the problem. Is there a solution?

Thanks Paul. Everything seems to be working now- even the mp3 audio (all of a sudden, goodness knows why).
